Neola Matusiewicz
Neola Matusiewicz was born in Poland of Lithuanian parents and immigrated with the whole family to Canada in the early 1960's. From childhood Neola was fascinated by colour and the detailed beauty of nature and would watch butterflies and bees in her parents garden with awe.With this curiosity of how colours are made and what makes everything in nature so perfect she persued her interest in the field of science.
Neola worked as a research assistant at McGill University in the departments of Physiology and Biochemistry for past 30 years. Upon early retirement four years ago she took up oil paintings, attended few art workshops and presently takes painting classes under the supervision of Pointe Claire artist (Craig Skinner).
Neola has been elected as the president of Montreal's Lithuanian Artists group and has held this post as of fall 2016.
Neola est née en Pologne de parents lituaniens et a immigré avec toute la famille au Canada au début des années 1960. Dès son enfance, Neola était fascinée par la couleur et la beauté détaillée de la nature et observait les papillons et les abeilles en elle. Les parents jardinent avec admiration. Avec cette curiosité pour la façon dont les couleurs sont créées et pour ce qui rend tout dans la nature si parfait, elle a poursuivi son intérêt pour le domaine de la science.
Neola a travaillé comme assistante de recherche à l'Université McGill dans les départements de physiologie et de biochimie au cours des 30 dernières années. Après une retraite anticipée il y a quatre ans, elle a commencé à peindre à l'huile, a suivi quelques ateliers d'art et suit actuellement des cours de peinture sous la supervision de l'artiste de Pointe Claire (Craig Skinner).
Neola a été élue présidente du groupe des artistes lituaniens de Montréal et occupe ce poste depuis l'automne 2016.>
