Inara Stulpins Leimanis
Inara Stulpins Leimanis was born in Riga, Latvia and like many post WWII youngsters here, merged her heritage with North American cultural values and sensibilities, stimulating her awareness of visual experiences. It began with the ancient richness of Latvian “dainas”, the folksongs of centuries old Latvian poetic awareness, sung to her by her mother and grandmother while weaving muted color threads into historical designs or embroidery of a “sedzina”, a small tablecloth. Later she studied and gathered greater folkloric knowledge attending the Worldwide Latvian art and artisan exhibition held in North America every four years.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University, in Kalamazoo Michigan, and in 1981, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia.
Inara Stulpins Leimanis est né à Riga, en Lettonie et comme de nombreux jeunes la Seconde Guerre mondiale post ici, a fusionné avec son héritage culturel nord-américain des valeurs et de sensibilités, de stimuler sa prise de conscience des expériences visuelles. Il a commencé avec la richesse des anciens lettons »dainas", les chansons des siècles conscience poétique lettone, chanté par sa mère et grand-mère tout en tissage de fils de couleur en sourdine dans les conceptions historiques ou la broderie d'un "sedzina", une nappe de petite taille. Plus tard, elle a étudié et a rassemblé plus de connaissances folkloriques participant au monde l'art letton et exposition artisanale tenue en Amérique du Nord tous les quatre ans.
Elle l'obtention du diplôme d'un baccalauréat ès arts de l'Université Western Michigan, à Kalamazoo au Michigan, et en 1981, elle a obtenu un baccalauréat en beaux-arts de l'Université Concordia.
